Crashes Caused by Drunk Drivers

Drinking and driving is a serious problem on the roads and highways of Alabama, injuring or claiming the lives of innocent people every year. According to statistics provided by Mothers' Against Drunk Driving (MADD), one out of every three fatal car accidents in our state are DUI related, with a total of 1,626 DUI fatalities over the past five years. Some people can get away with driving drunk for years without being caught, while others will cause a fatal accident the first time. Nearly anyone will agree that driving after consuming alcohol is dangerous, but many drivers continue to place everyone at risk by getting behind the wheel drunk.

What is the Legal Limit to Drive in Alabama?

In Alabama, if you are 21 or older you are considered legally drunk if your blood alcohol content (BAC) is 0.08% or higher. If you are younger than 21, you are considered drunk at 0.02%. However, if you do commercial driving (bus driver, delivery driver, etc.) then you are legally drunk if your BAC is 0.04% or higher.

Filing an Accident Claim in Alabama

Recovering compensation in a personal injury or wrongful death case depends on being able to demonstrate by a preponderance of the evidence that the other party is at fault for causing the accident. In the case of a collision caused by a drunk driver, this should be a relatively simple proposition. Don't assume, however, that the insurance company will see it that way. With their own bottom-line at stake, they are likely to do whatever they can to minimize or even deny your claim. Level the playing field by hiring us to represent you.

We are on your side and want to help you hold the drunk driver responsible, whether you were injured in Montgomery, Dothan or anywhere else in Southeast Alabama. Contact us today.
